Luxy Bar is GO!
We have been working on our offroad drop bar for ages. I mean, Ragley has only been going since Feb ’09, but this bar was on the original “to do” list. We’ve been working with (rather than against) other drop bar people out there, and particular thanks to Sam at Singular Cycles has been particularly helpful in the feedback stages. We’re not going to go into the why’s or wherefores of offroad drop bars, or flared drops, or whatever – and this is another love it or hate it thing, but we like doing stuff like that because I think the world needs it.
Read more about Sam’s test on the final prototype here – http://singularcycles.posterous.com/ragley-luxy-bar-latest
Bars will be shipping in 45 days. Colours – blast black and polished silver. More news later. Now – who wants a carbon one?

Would it be available via chainreaction?

Will these bars accept bar end shifters?
Brant 12:39 pm on June 17, 2010 | #
They will take bar end shifters.
Dave 8:51 am on June 18, 2010 | #
Excellent, my next question is when do they hit the retailers?
Brant 10:38 am on June 18, 2010 | #
Another couple of months, as we’ve got to finish them, then bring them across the sea on a boat.
Dave 11:23 am on June 18, 2010 | #
Fair enough. Gives me time to get hold of the frame I’m thinking of sticking them on.

Was about to buy some midge bars for cyclocross then i came across these. What are the key differences/improvements over the Midge bars or would it be best to stick to them for cyclocross as these Luxy bars look as though they could be quite wide for CX.
ragley 1:06 pm on June 24, 2010 | #
I really don’t want to get into a “better than the midge” discussion as it seems a bit immoral.
PaulG 1:25 pm on June 24, 2010 | #
Apologies as it was not meant to come across like that – I was just asking for some advice.
ragley 1:38 pm on June 24, 2010 | #
No – I know what you mean, and why you’re asking… but I hope you appreciate my position
And, to be honest, Luxy was designed from a clean sheet…
The best impression/feedback really is from Sam – here – http://singularcycles.posterous.com/ragley-luxy-bar-latest

Cool – Thanks!

I beg for carbon. I have the Midge and I would probably not change my cockpit for an aluminum drop bar It maybe superior in ways, but not convincing enough for a new stem and the work involved. That being said, I would gladly undergo the operation to enjoy a carbon bar.

Hi!
I’d like to ask if the ragley luxy bar is availiable yet?
If it isn’t, do you know when?
Thank you, best regards, Till Stukenberg

Will the final version be oversize (31.2) or standard (25.4). If I can’t use it on a dirt drop or other quill stem it won’t be of much use to me. My vote is for standard diameter, please.
ragley 7:31 am on August 28, 2010 | #
Thanks for your comments Michael, but you’ll be disappointed to hear that production is oversize (31.8mm)

can you report the reach and drop dimensions? i’m personally hoping for something a bit shallower than midge/woodchipper thanks!
Paul 11:16 am on September 17, 2010 | #
Do you know when these will be available in the shops?
Cheers.
Brant 11:28 am on September 17, 2010 | #
Hi Paul. Things have gone a bit slow, but they are being loaded into a container and should be with us in about 45days from now.
Paul 8:01 pm on September 21, 2010 | #
Cool! Thanks.

Nice, Whats the weight like? Also +1 for the oversized carbon version. Any plans? Not aware of any off-road drops in carbon so could be a good first.

Probably the best cross, monster-cross, off-road drop bar out right now. I even put a set on the Roady bike. If a carbon version ever shows up…. I will take two (at least)
Totally increases the cockpit variability.
