Tyre Fit in the TD-1
We get asked sometimes…
Loads of room for a 2.25 with the sliders right up to the front, wouldn’t go any bigger or mud clearance might become an issue.
You won’t get tyre rub on the frame, even when really stomping. I can get the front mech to touch the (2.25″) tyre, just, in granny ring (and obviously riding SS you won’t have a front mech to care about!), but it won’t get near the frame unless you’ve got really REALLY flexy wheels!
Couple of pics attached to give an idea of clearance/how far forward the sliders are (sorry about the silly large size)

2.25″?
That’s bad news for me.
I’ve just bought a frame – after owning a Scandal I assumed it would have had plenty clearance for 2.35″ seeing as it was the same designer.
Curses.

Best bet is to use Maxxis tyres/Continental tyres rather than Schwalbes – had the exactly same issue on my Chameleon. Schwalbe come out low and wide where as the the Maxxis crossmark is taller with a slighty narrower profile. My Continental Race king is also a better profile for this shape if you really do want something as fast or faster than a racing ralph.

fyi epi you can get a 2.4 racing ralph in there with the drop outs about half way and about 3/4s cm each side – ave no front mech mind.
